This Taco Bell is a Boozy Paradise

Is it time to get your drink on? Pacifica, CA has a Taco Bell at Linda Mar Beach at it serves the good stuff. What’s better than that may be the location. We are considering this to be the top Taco Bell in all the land! It has spiked Twisted Freezes and other beverages such as wine and beer. This location not only has great views but incredible photos ops with decor and wall murals.

For those of you that can’t make it just think of how cool your Taco Bell would be with some booze and a cheap Nacho Bell Grande!

Are you a Foodie?

Own the foodie in you!

You are quarantined right? Well nearly 300 million Americans are and I see no reason not to ask yourself the all important question “Am I a foodie?”. It’s clear there are many qualifiers that could make you one and ultimately it’s up for you to decide not the general public.

No it would not be based on your cooking expertise, where all you have traveled, or wether you know the top 5 French sauces. It’s a little more simple than that to us.

However, if we were creating the qualifications it would be like this!

Well first let’s say what would likely make you not a foodie…

Where did this food come from? Fresh or Frozen…

Great dishes have one major thing in common, they are typically fresh and just because a sign says farm to table a foodie knows if it’s true. It doesn’t mean there aren’t good boxed or frozen dishes but it’s not hard to pick out that canned or frozen reheated taste.

Do you eat the same thing at each restaurant you enjoy?

Is it just the potato soup at O’Charleys or the Alice Springs Chicken at Outback? This would mean you don’t seek out different menu options knowing you will get a junket from time to time. Foodies enjoy the change of pace and palette recreations.

Okay time for a few qualifiers:

You are a foodie if:

You plan every vacation around where you will be eating

We know how it is, you were on the road to Disney World and over half your conversations were discussing the food you would eat. You were looking for deals around the park and restaurant options inside. Is it worth getting dining passes? You didn’t ask if it was worth going to Animal Kingdom….

It does not disqualify you from being a foodie if you are not aware of every cooking technique or style!

This is one we hear every day, you have to know what coulis is or how to chiffonade – knife cut… you don’t… you are not claiming to be a chef or a food critic. You are a foodie! You need to enjoy trying everything.. at least once (this doesn’t mean the food on “The Survivor”). It means nearly falling in the floor after dipping a French dip into the perfect Au Jus, salivating about your dessert while still eating your entree, and having no choice but to reminiscence about the tartness of your perfect raspberry crepe that morning. You get it right? A deep passion and enjoyment including the hunt for that perfect taste!

Are you a foodie? Am I foodie? That’s really up to you! So in that case, I am!

Can the Coronavirus be Transmitted from a Package?

It’s not the package you need to worry about!

Studies seem to be everywhere on this one with not a lot of fact checking, oh yeah there are no facts yet. Everything is speculation, if it were so infectious the post office would have closed the doors by now.

Early studies stated the virus could live on cardboard for 24 hours and 48 hours on plastic/ steel. That’s the catch however live and be able to transmit to the human body are different. A Yale Medicine Disease Infectious Specialist states “Detection does not mean transmissible”.

What does the CDC say?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) clearly believes the most likely way to contract the virus is through direct contact with someone and their cough droplets. Of course if your mail carrier is sick, there is a chance of spreading assuming you come in contact with the delivered package quickly.

Our Opinion – most important

Let’s start this with, opinion. Non factual, best guess, stop fricking out thoughts for the world to read. I’m not going to start by saying spray your package just like every TV network with disinfect spray, we all know there is none, I mean none. Amazon and every store is out, when you do find one you get excited and quickly you see this message. “Currently the product is only available to hospitals and government agencies due to Covid-19. Here is the safe bet, if you have gloves put them on to open the package then throw out the trash. It is not unlikely but impossible the package within the package contains the virus. To take this one step further if your package set outside all day while you were at work just making sure your hands are clean and open your packages.

Restaurants Weak at the Knees

Empty restaurants nationwide

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! If there wasn’t already terrible signs across the US today a normal day with packed bars and restaurants proves to be the exact opposite. Even though we knew it was coming, it is sad to watch. American restaurants are seeing a higher decline in daily traffic. Let’s just be honest, take out and delivery simply want pay the bills. Payroll may go down but majority of expenses remain and people simply want see the storefront with no foot traffic.

Nearly every state is mandating new orders that effect our local business owners. No dine in option is the most recent this week to sweep the nation. For those that are servers you may soon find yourself with no income. Although there are promises of nearly a trillion dollars in assistance on the way, what will that do now? Will that be by the first of the month when your rent is due?

We can only hope Americans saw this coming from China and has put enough away to not be dependent on our government. If you depend on the government please understand there will be red tape and it could be 2 to 3 weeks before you see a dime. When you do will it be 1,000 dollars per adult or per family or maybe you won’t qualify for the stipend at all?

The fear of the unknown is always scary, take care of yourself, take care of your neighbor if you can, and stay away from the elderly. The best thing we can do is listen to our healthcare officials but let’s not be naive your going to have to go out and we wish for you to do it safely.

We hope to see our restaurants back on their feet again soon but unfortunately the worst is yet to come!!

Chick-fil-A Sauces

Get out of town and hide, this news is going to change the way you cook, eat and maybe breathe. Chick-fil-A is taking its dipping sauces to grocery stores, the company made an announcement Wednesday.

Chick-fil-A will be selling 16 ounce bottles for $3.49. They will be running a test selling 8 ounce bottles in its Florida restaurants. If all goes well we could see it  in grocery stores in April. Chick-fil-A, Polynesian, Barbeque, Honey Mustard, and Garden Herb Ranch will be available in the ounce test run.

In April, Target, Publix, Walmart, and Winn-Dixie stores in Florida will be the first trying out the 16 ounce version and you could see it everywhere by the end of they year.

“Chick-fil-A Sauce and Polynesian Sauce are our two most popular sauces, so we are extremely excited to offer them at select retail stores outside of the restaurant,” says Michael Patrick, Chick-fil-A.

This is going to make your tummy so happy!

What sauce would you buy from the grocery store?

Coronavirus Effecting Food and Beverage

Food business is big business!

Did you know the food business has a value of over 4 trillion dollars? Fast food alone in the US took in 200 billion in 2015, these numbers are outrageous right?

What’s one thing that seems to be making an impact on those dollars this year? Yep the Coronavirus, excuse me Covid-19 which no one is calling it lol!

Bans on travel, global restrictions, and tanking markets. Face it China is on lock down but other countries such as Iran, Italy and South Korea are struggling to contain the spread of the virus. In Northern Italy they have recently quarantined 16 million people. Is the US next? I don’t really believe so as I think the Flu is a bigger threat but for some of us in the US it’s already starting to impact our area.

How is this effecting your favorite restaurants and stores?

Well any area effected is going to see a decline in eating out and an incline in delivery orders. Of course this could slow gathering around the bar and clubbing in tight crowds!

Obviously there is a great deal of economic impact to the food and beverage industry.

Starbucks

Starbucks is not has a no reusable cup policy in place but is giving a 10 cent discount if you bring the cup.

Also they have banned travel to and from the effected countries for the month of March.

Costco Wholesale

Costco is putting a stop to free samples to help the spread of Coronavirus.

In other news Costco is now banning non members from coming in with friends to take advantage of their cafe food.

Postmates and Instacart

Both places are setting up a non contact delivery option, the major players will be dropping off at the door and not entering into the home. No comment from DoorDash and UberEats that we are aware of yet.

Nestle

Nestle is a Swiss food and drink company who operates all over. However they are relying a great deal on US operations at this time and says they have not shut down any operations as of yet.

Coca Cola

There was fear due to its sweeteners primarily coming out of China that there may be issues manufacturing Coke Zero and Diet Coke. However Coca Cola has stated they do not expect its supply to impact customers.

All stores

Water bottles, mask, toilet paper, sanitizer and can goods are seeing the impact of empty shelves. This could be your area next so stock up!

Take care of your hygiene and for goodness sake stay home when your sick! If your not though look out as more impact may be on the way to the places you love to eat and shop at.

We will update this article as more Food News impacts your area.

Buffalo Wild Wings BOGO is Back

BOGO Wings

Yeeeess!!! It’s back! BOGO wings! This use to be my favorite Tuesday night spot. My friends and I went there religiously every week and had contest on who would eat the most. Unfortunately I lost most of the time lol.

Wings just seem to be out of this world expensive now days. 10 wings are now 12.99 here and at most places really, luckily on Tuesday that’s 20 wings now. Of course it’s chains like this that offer great deals and eat into the supply of bone ins. When bone in wings are low in supply the restaurant chains decrease the price of boneless wings to combat it.

I wonder why we call them boneless wings, usually they are from breast meat turned into an elevated sauced up chicken nugget. If your a lover of boneless though, Thursday night is BOGO for them as well.

Hopefully this deal is going to last a while. If not though there is at least the deal during March Madness. March is jam packed with cool events and holidays so while your out for Mardi Gras, Spring break, our St. Patties day which is a TUESDAY the 17th, be sure to jump on this one!

Starbucks is Rolling Spring Out

Okay, so we know it’s not spring yet but we are so excited that it’s coming. I mean really, is it fall when PSL’s come out or Christmas when the Chestnut Praline is roasting in your hands?

Let’s face it, we have become a seasonal nation. We associate each season with our favorites of every place we visit. With that I say hello sunshine and welcome you spring into my life.

Starbucks has rolled out two new spring coconut milk drinks to bring you refreshing vibes.

What are they? Directly from Starbucks.com

“Iced Golden Ginger Drink

Our golden ginger blend with turmeric essence shaken with flavors of pineapple and ginger, coconutmilk and ice for a delicious beverage to lift up your day.

Iced Pineapple Matcha Drink

Our premium matcha green tea shaken with flavors of pineapple and ginger along with coconutmilk and ice for a delicious beverage to uplift your day.“

These vibrant creamy drinks do sound delicious. I’ll be honest since the craze of Moscow Mules I’ve become a bit of a ginger snob so I’ll likely roll with that one first.

What will you try?
